10 Observations from Acts 4

 

Healing of lame beggar.

1.  Vivid Demonstrations of the Gospel. (Acts 3)

         Are there noticeable evidences of the gospel in your life?


2.  Persecution is expected - for the right reasons. (4:1-3)

         No persecution means not confronting idols.

         Persecution for jerkiness’ sake.

 

3.  Conversions and Transformation is Expected. (4:4)

         We do not expect to see radical transformation in ourselves.

         We do not expect to see radical transformation in others.

         We do not expect to see someone we know come to Christ in the next 6 months?

         Why not?  What does this say about our view of God?

 

4.  People hide in Vagueness.  Clarify with specifics.  (4:7-9)

 

 

5.  Wise Argument.  (4:10)

         What do we agree on? 

         Show how “All false gods never fail to fail.”   

         This is why I usually carry a pen and find a napkin.

 

 

6.  Get to Jesus.  For the love of God, get to Jesus! (4:11-12)

I’ve been building a relationship with them for 16 years just trying to love.

Have you ever told them about Jesus?

No.

Then you don’t love them.

 

7a.  You don’t need to be well educated or highly talented. (4:13)

7b.  You do need to know the True Story (Bible, Word, Doctrine, Theology) and be bold. (4:13)

 

8.  Missional Proclamation is compelled by Gospel Confrontation (4:18-20)

 

 

9.   Missional Living brings you to the end of yourself where your only recourse is to pray. (4:23-30)

         You don’t pray b/c you have nothing to pray about.

      

10.  Need for “Continual, Repeated ‘Pentecosts’” –Keller (4:31)
