Moonlit Cry

For those of you who asked (and even for those who didn't), here is the story behind the new song we sang last week called Moonlit Cry. This story is given by the author in the hopes that, 1) we can understand the title and it's meaning, and 2) that we can relate to this song at an even deeper level:

"so i was in this crazy funk. i had something to say to god and i just couldn't figure it out. you know that feeling, when something is right on the tip of your tongue, but you just can't get it off, thats how it was. i knew it was a song or a poem or something like that. this went on for about three weeks. finally around 2am one night, i got startled out of bed. i went out to the balcony and there was this beautiful, full moon. the sky surrounding the moon was a blackish/bright purple tint and this song just came out of me. i just cryed it out to god for about an hour or two. i went inside, wrote it down, and went to bed knowing that god allowed me to finally speak to him and repent of my unbelief. im so thankful that god speaks to his children."

Also, here are the lyrics for the song:

God, would you be so real to me, please
Oh God, would you be so real to me, please
Meet me in my need, make me pure and clean
God, would you be so real to me

You are my hope
You are my hope
You are my hope, oh God

You are my hope
You are my hope
You are my hope, oh God
God would you be so real to me

God, would you be so real to me, please
Oh God, would you be so real to me, please
Mend the broken heart, break those chains apart
God, would you be so real to me

You are our hope
You are our hope
You are our hope, oh God

You are our hope
You are our hope
You are our hope, oh God
God would you be so real to me

Thanks mr/ms anonymous, that song was something I was really able to worship with on Sunday. Chris and I have been praying for songs to be emerging from within the community- it was such a sweet taste to finally get to sing/pray/worship with one.

i'm not song writer, so here are some lyrics that are powerful to me...

Mercy falls from Your heart down on me
Glory streams from Your face so lovely
A million words could not describe
How marvelous Your perfect light

I adore You
I will sing it with all my heart
I adore You
I love everything You are

THAT MY HEART, BEATS TO THE RHYTHM OF YOUR HEART!!
That my eyes focus on Your beautiful eyes
A million tongues could not express
How beautiful Your holiness

My life is yours and will be forever
My love is yours

and another... phil wickham has seriously ridiculous lyrics:

I see Your face in every sunrise
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes
The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
You’re beautiful

I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright
We are amazed in the light of the stars
It’s all proclaiming who You are
You’re beautiful, You're beautiful

I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me
Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home
You’re beautiful, you're beautiful

WHEN WE ARRICE AT ETERNITY'S SHORE
WHERE DEATH IS JUST A MEMORY AND TEARS ARE NO MORE
WE'LL ENTER IN AS THE WEDDING BELLS RING
YOUR BRIDE WILL COME TOGETHER AND WE'LL SING
YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL, YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL, YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL

Just offering a bit of visual stimulus to the "Moonlit Cry." Our God creates amazing beauty.

(hopefully this works)

dangit...fail...try again. Photos of God's beauty are better appreciated when they actually fit within the screen. As Joe was describing his experience a couple of weeks ago I couldn't help thinking of this photo I took last weekend when I arrived home in the early AM and was awestruck by the beautiful dissipating clouds and moonlit sky.
