On June 8, 2008 about 40 people gathered down in the basement of the Bacon’s house on a Sunday night. No, we are not a cult - just couldn’t fit in the living room. We committed together to figure out what it would look like to live as missionaries to the City of Tempe and the East Valley.
We did not want to just create another “Church Option” in Tempe. We longed to be people who understood the implications of the gospel for our lives and lived them out together as the church.
We spent the summer, grasping for deeper understanding of the gospel and trying to see how that good news could be lived out in our city.
In September 2008, we spread out from one group of 40 into 5 smaller Missional Communities.
In October 2008 we began bringing the Missional Communities back together on Sundays at Thew Elementary School for teaching, encouragement, worship, and communion.
Over the last year, we have been constantly evolving. We have seen unbelievable evidence of God’s grace in our lives. We now consist of 6 Missional Communities comprised of over 80 people living out the gospel together on mission.
We are praying that in the future God would continue to grow us as faithful communities.
